We are reaching out to you with a very difficult decision, the 2020 Evans Head Fishing Classic EHFC has been cancelled.

In light of the Australian Government’s decision regarding cancellations of any ‘non-essential gathering of more than 500 people’ from Monday 16th March, we have had to make this hard decision.

While we would have loved to bring people some much needed joy in this increasingly difficult time, too many complicating factors are at play. We cannot guarantee that this event would not be forced to cancel by the government. The NSW government have enforced large fines (document here), with the end date of the ban being only 10 days before the EHFC, it is too close to risk the extension of these bans and the costs of a late cancellation is something that Australian Fishing Tournaments cant recover from.

Please rest assured though, that we are all absolutely committed to bringing this event back to our competitors in the future. So in light of this we have made the decision to cancel this years, leaving enough in the bank to be able to run the event again in 2021.

Just because the EHFC has been cancelled, please think about keeping the accommodation booking and supporting the town with a fishing holiday this year, I hope to see you fishing somewhere.

The 2021 dates have been set already, this time back in the NSW and QLD school holidays, it will be run from Friday the 25th June to Friday the 2nd July 2021.

If everything settles down we may look at a future 2020 date, but at this stage with no end in sight of this COVID-19 we cant commit to anything at the moment.
