Wimbledon 2026: Centre Court Delivers Another Classic
The second week of Wimbledon 2026 is where champions separate themselves from the rest, and Day 6 of the Evans Head Fishing Classic was no different. There were dominant straight-set victories, nail-biting tie-breaks and a few surprise upsets as anglers produced some of the biggest fish of the tournament. With the finals approaching, every cast now feels like championship point.
Carl North delivered the performance of the day, producing a massive 1002mm Flathead to win the category in emphatic fashion. Daniel Hamer (863mm) and Glenn Hitchens (850mm) fought hard but simply couldn’t return the winner.
Cooper Trickett launched a booming ace with a huge 1250mm Mulloway, comfortably taking the title. Bernard Richter (923mm) and Isaac johnston (920mm) pushed deep into the rally but Cooper was simply too strong when it counted.
The closest contest belonged to the Blackfish division. Andrew Witchard edged out Callum Carmont by just 18mm, with Tom McCall only another millimetre behind. It was Centre Court drama from first cast to last.
Ryan Kernaghan claimed victory with a 410mm fish, narrowly ahead of Abbey Alchin (405mm), while Luke Tinson and Kim Richter shared third with matching 390mm fish.
Daniel Outerbridge proved too quick around the court with a winning 440mm Dart, just holding off Josh Dorsman (435mm), while Adam Little rounded out the podium with 411mm.
Bernard Richter was untouchable with a 668mm Tailor, while Dylan Carberry (455mm) battled it out behind him.
Gawaine Blake took the honours with a 463mm Trag, ahead of Mackenzie Luck (410mm) and David Borninkhof (400mm).
Alex Klassen claimed the Whiting title with 400mm, narrowly ahead of second place on 372mm in another close contest.
Sometimes one perfect shot is all you need. Gawaine Blake landed the only scoring Snapper of the day at 311mm, adding yet another title to an already remarkable day.
The exhibition matches produced plenty of entertainment, with Bernard Richter taking out the Drummer category (500mm), Isaac Johnson winning Giant Trevally (451mm) and Reanna Smith claiming Silver Trevally (405mm).
With the tournament entering its closing stages, every leaderboard is tightening. Some anglers have one hand on the trophy, while others are preparing for one last all-out assault in the final rounds. If Day 6 proved anything, it’s that fortunes can change with a single cast, just like one break of serve can decide Wimbledon.
With just a few days remaining, the overall leaderboard is beginning to look like the second week at Wimbledon, where only the very best remain in contention.
