Evans Head Classic Day 3 – Monday

While the clouds stayed, the wind abated and the offshore fishing was on for day 3 of the classic. That saw plenty of boats head out wider than they had previously been able to. Inshore we saw plenty of competitors hit the rocks and estuary again chasing the unicorn fish.

Offshore Darcy Banks, who makes regular trips up to the stage won largest AJ/Sambo with a 990mm fish edging out Glenn Banks and Gordon Russell. Makayla Oldfield boated an enormous 1158mm king for first in that category.

Pearl Perch went to Stephen Banks with a 500mm fish. We expect there will be some improvement on that. Mulloway and Snapper went to Mitchell Rizzardini with a 1199mm mulloway and 899mm snapper. So close to the 90cm mark.

Ethan Donnelly braved the second year in a row with injury to take out the trag with a 740mm fish.

Inshore, flathead was won by Hayden Simpson with a 790mm fish beating Glenn Hitchins with a 703mm. The bream again were over the 400mm mark with a 430mm fish by Nathan Olley taking the win. Adam Little was second with a 410mm.

Blackfish was won by Shane Griffiths 421mm fish edging Kim Richter’s 400mm fish. Whiting is edging up with a 400mm fish by Alex Klassen who seems to specialise in them every year.

Inshore land based anglers Bernard Richter and Angus Gover won Dart and tailor respectively with a 435mm dart for Bernard and a 710mm tailor for Angus.

A cracking with finally less wind. Good luck to everyone tomorrow.
