Gamakatsu/Anaconda Evans Head Fishing Classic 2024

What a week of fishing. The weather gods smiled after a few tough early days. There were plenty of fish photographed in the end with plenty of happy faces. Each night the draws went off with thousands of dollars in prizes given out.

The offshore category was contested all the way to the end of the week with Stephen Banks taking out AJ/Sambo with a 1210 ahead of Rick Jones and Darcy Banks. King/Cobia saw some 1m plus fish for the top 3 but it was Makayla Oldfield who prevailed over some tough competition. Darcy McKenna’s 1340mm mulloway was enough to edge out DJ and Shenoah making it a family triple. The pearl perch was won by Rod Simmons. Trag was won by Brad Mayes over Aaron Scells and Snapper was won by Robert Hargraves.

Inshore the Bream were the most caught fish and you had to get a special one to take a win and Aiden Treddinick did that with a magic 465mm fish on the last day. Whiting went to specialist Alex Klassen who brough his mum as support. Tegan Schneider’s 988mm fish was the winning flathead. Ever faithful Bernard Richter won blackfish. If you could bet on him, you would.

Tailor went to Angus Gover’s 710mm fish and dart to Alan Veselis.

Champion male went to Alex Klassen, female to Tegan Schneider and team to Ballina Angling Club
